Recap: Not a plant

A walk around the block in my neighborhood had revealed to me that, apparently, the region here-abouts is damp enough to start fungi. Or perhaps "start" is too meak a word--being taken over is much closer. We have mushrooms everywhere, of more kinds that I've ever seen in normal suburban areas. Mushrooms in shades of white and beige, in shapes like staircases, in fairy-rings, in clusters roughly the size of a basketball, on trees, in the grass, slowly eating away at the shubbery and ground covering.

At least they have not taken over the house yet but--as can be see with the progression of mildrew, it would appear to be only a matter of time.

Behold, the great war against the fungi is arriving.
Or, as we look at the days that are already lengthening, is that the spring?
