convenience

here's the promised entry:

apartment-hunting is very interesting, though the car-ride is rather sense-deadening (3 hours). even if you're going with a good friend, at the end of the trip you feel a bit out of it. however--downtown davis is very nice--i like it. and yes, the most important things of all: we have found an apartment and made the decision in less than 24 hours, car trip or no.

the house is about "c" shaped (or "u" depending on which direction you're looking at it), and is three-storied. the house is painted in cheerful white, with parts in dark red and in peach/pink colour, which caused me some slight prejudice against it in the first place. we're getting a place that's not on the first floor (promised by the assistance manager, who, i think, likes us). the room itself is like this:
you open the door in a fairly spacious living room, there is a large window at your right (the one we looked it anyway, there's 2 versions, the other one, just switch my left and rights around), a wall on the left divides the left-most area into a small kitchen, with fridge, sink, stove, and the works. directly in front is a wall with two identical doorways, one on your left and one on your right, inside is a sink with vanity area (countertop with mirror) attached to the side wall. there's a door on the right that links the two sink/bathroom areas together through the main bathroom area with the bath and toilet. directly in front (through the first door to the sink) is the bedroom, both are the same size with one window, blinds, and a desk.

curiosity satisfied?

we saw some other places too...some are nice, others are, frankly put, less so. the closer you get to the school, the more expensive it gets. we saw a place with single room apartment that's more expensive than our double room. (for the records, "we" is referring to anna and i). but our place is pretty near too, 20 min walk to campus and 3 min to a grocery place, which was very important to anna's mother who was driving us around, just to see that we won't starve. (by the way, anna, give your mother my thanks, again, for driving us and for putting up with me.) it's also very near downtown...actually...if we keep going down the street our place is on, we'd get to downtown.

so that's one thing over. now back to studyin!
and maybe computer recovery...
