PARALLELISM [My salutations to Edward Albee and Kate (for ranting to me about the penguin book.)]
Each to their own rooms. One window. Four walls.
Each to their own cell with no one to call.
Like parallel worlds that never do meet
We walk in one direction on a two-way street.
Each to their minds with their own thoughts to think.
Each with their own soul teetering on the brink.
Living alone in illusions created to be real
Until we can’t tell what is it we feel.
A hundred buildings. Six-storied flats.
A thousand stories. All identical, at that.
A six-inch barrier of plaster and bricks,
And a frozen silence that no one can break.
A thousand homes. A million lights.
A million tears shed in the darkness that night.
One window. Four walls. A two-D world.
We’re locked within and we don’t know what for.
Truth and illusions. It’s such a mess.
Truth and illusions. There can be no regrets.
Like parallel worlds that never do meet
We all walk in one direction on a two way street…
